Mauritius has established an inter-ministerial committee to better coordinate its national digital transformation strategy.
Through this committee, strategic steps will be taken in areas such as the digitization of schools, public alerts, social benefits, and the protection of vulnerable users.
As an island nation, Mauritius is already more advanced than many other countries on the continent in terms of e-governance, AI readiness, and digital infrastructure. With this initiative, the modernization of public administration will accelerate, enabling the state to deliver more efficient, higher-quality, and inclusive services.
According to the United Nations Department of Social Affairs, Mauritius holds a leading position in East Africa and also plays a significant role globally in AI readiness. In addition, the country ranks 3rd in Africa in digital infrastructure development.
If these projects progress as planned, the nation will place its momentum in digitalization on a stronger foundation. Citizens of Mauritius will also be able to adapt more quickly to the digital environment.
