Last season, Christantus Uche made his La Liga debut and delivered a performance that left a lasting impression on the league.
The 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder quickly showcased his quality and became one of Getafe’s key players.
Signed just a year ago for €500,000, Uche made a significant impact with 4 goals and 6 assists in 33 appearances, greatly increasing his market value.
Following that breakthrough campaign, several clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Como, Sunderland, Brentford, and Leeds United added him to their transfer shortlist.
However, the most concrete move came from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, who submitted an official €20 million bid for the player.
Getafe are open to completing the deal, and according to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations with the player’s camp are currently ongoing.
Although Getafe would prefer to keep Uche, La Liga’s strict financial regulations may force them to sell.
The transfer is expected to be officially announced in the coming hours.
