Ademola Lookman, who was named Africa’s best player this year, has expressed his disappointment with his club, Atalanta.
The 27-year-old was hoping to continue his career with a different team this season.
The Serie A side had previously told him he would be allowed to leave this summer if a fair offer arrived.
Recently, Inter Milan made a move to sign the player. Lookman was also keen to join the Italian giants, but the transfer has failed to materialize.
According to Lookman, Atalanta received an offer that matched what had previously been agreed upon, but then went back on their word.
Following this situation, Lookman made the following statement on social media:
“I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right, and I feel that enough is enough.”
“I can confirm I have now handed in a formal transfer request.”
Lookman also added that he couldn’t understand why the club was blocking his departure.
