Nigeria were crowned champions of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
With this victory, they secured the title for the 10th time.
In the final, their opponents Morocco started the game strongly. First-half goals from Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaâ Mssoudy gave Morocco a 2-0 lead.
However, the second half saw a complete turnaround. In the 62nd minute, Nigeria were awarded a penalty, which Esther Okoronkwo converted to make it 2-1.
Just ten minutes later, Folashade Florence Ijamilusi scored the equalizer.
With only minutes left in the match, Jennifer Echegini netted the winner, completing a remarkable comeback and securing the trophy for Nigeria.
In the third-place match played yesterday, Ghana faced South Africa. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the penalty shootout, Ghana triumphed 4-3 to finish third in the tournament.
