All eight finalists from the men’s 800m final at the Paris Olympic Games will face each other again today at the Herculis EBS Meeting.
In addition to this highly anticipated rematch, the men’s 200m event will feature two Olympic gold medallists.
Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi will face two strong challengers in this race. If Marco Arop and Djamel Sedjati perform well, they could overtake him. Arop, who is undefeated over 800m this year, and Sedjati, who broke the meeting record in Monaco last year with 1:41.46, pose a serious threat to Wanyonyi.
The field also includes Gabriel Tual and Bryce Hoppel, both of whom ran sub-1:42 last year, adding even more depth to the competition.
In the 200m event, Olympic champion Noah Lyles will make his first appearance of the season in the Diamond League. He will go up against Letsile Tebogo, who beat him in the 200m last year.
The event will also feature competitions in pole vault, shot put, men’s high jump, women’s 100m, women’s 400m, women’s 100m hurdles, women’s 400m hurdles, men’s 110m hurdles, men’s 5000m, and the 3000m steeplechase.
