The Government of Kenya plans to strengthen digital connectivity and establish links with both Ethiopia and Somalia by constructing a high-capacity fiber optic cable.
This cable is expected to be laid along the Isiolo–Mandera corridor as part of the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP).
The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, together with the ICT Authority, has launched an Early Market Engagement (EME) process to consult with stakeholders in the sector.
The notice has four main objectives: to inform the market about upcoming procurement opportunities, gather feedback on proposed technical and service delivery requirements, assess capacity and innovation in the ICT sector, and support the development of a transparent, competitive, and cost-effective procurement strategy.
If successful, this project will mark a significant step in the region’s digital transformation.
