Starlink had frozen registrations in certain areas of Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
It has now been announced that registrations have reopened in these regions. This freeze lasted for seven months, and some areas have now been freed from these restrictions.
New registrations can now be made in Nairobi and its surroundings, Lusaka, Kano, Port Harcourt, Warri, Accra, and various parts of Zimbabwe.
The reason for the restriction was the high demand for Starlink services combined with limited bandwidth capacity. Starlink had announced that its network capacity was full and that it could not accept new users.
Although this problem has been partially resolved, restrictions still remain in Harare, Lagos, and Abuja. Due to this, new users cannot be registered in these regions yet.
However, Starlink continues to see strong demand in the African market, and it is expected that these issues will be resolved over the long term as demand persists.
