In the FIFA Club World Cup, the most recent champions Manchester City faced Moroccan side Wydad AC.
The English giants found the net early, scoring in just the 2nd minute. A deflected cross from Savinho was finished off by Phil Foden.
Although the Moroccan team was initially shaken by the early goal, they quickly regained their composure. They produced an impressive performance and created several dangerous chances. However, in the 42nd minute, Jeremy Doku doubled City’s lead after positioning himself well at the far post during a corner kick.
After this second goal, Manchester City gained momentum and continued to launch dangerous attacks, but they could not convert them into more goals. In the 88th minute, Rico Lewis received a red card for a challenge that left his team with ten men.
However, by then most of the game had already passed, and Wydad couldn’t capitalize on the numerical advantage. The match ended 2-0 in City’s favor.
Wydad now finds themselves in a difficult group. In their next match of the tournament, they will aim for victory against Juventus.
