Eutelsat Group has launched its first low Earth orbit (LEO) ground station in Angola.
This station will enable the delivery of fast and sustainable connectivity to underserved, rural, and remote areas across Angola and Central Africa.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable figures such as Angola’s Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mr. Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira; INACOM CEO, Mr. Joaquim Muhongo; Mr. Roz Griffiths from the British Embassy; and Afke Schaart, representing Eutelsat Group.
Eutelsat had previously pledged to bridge the digital divide on the continent and to support sustainable and inclusive economic growth. This initiative demonstrates their commitment to that promise.
While the company already offered geostationary (GEO) satellite services in Angola, this development marks a new step toward expanding LEO technology in the region.
