Seven separate African healthtech ventures have been selected for the third cohort of the pan-African initiative Investing in Innovation Africa (i3).
Each of the selected ventures will receive up to $225,000 in grant funding and tailored support to develop their pharmacy-focused innovations.
Pharmacies provide primary healthcare services for 70% of healthcare visits across the continent. These ventures aim to develop technology-driven tools to make medicine access more efficient and affordable for patients.
The selected companies offer services such as AI-powered prescription services, cloud pharmacy systems, and many other innovations. These ventures are operating across 19 countries.
The selected companies include Chefaa, Meditect, Dawa Mkononi, mPharma, Sproxil, myDawa, and Sproxil. In its first two years, the i3 program has invested $3 million in 60 different ventures, facilitated 122 contracts, and helped launch pilot projects.
This new investment could contribute to addressing one of Africa’s most significant challenges: healthcare access.
