CAF Champions League Finalists Confirmed. After a quiet first leg, the second semi-final matches were thrilling.
In the first match of the day, Mamelodi Sundowns managed to eliminate last season’s champions, Al Ahly.
It was a tightly contested game that started with high intensity from Al Ahly. In the 24th minute, Emam Ashour delivered a brilliant pass to his teammate Taher Mohamed.
Receiving the ball just outside the box, Taher Mohamed struck a beautiful goal to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Al Ahly maintained control of the game for a long time. However, near the end of regular time, a ball deflected off defender Yasser Ibrahim and ended up in the net, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Since the first leg ended 0-0, Sundowns advanced to the final thanks to their away goal.
FC Pyramids showed no mercy to Orlando Pirates
In the other match of the day, FC Pyramids and Orlando Pirates delivered a goal-filled thriller. The first goal came in the 41st minute, when Relebohile Mofokeng scored with a stylish finish to put the South African side ahead 1-0.
However, before the first half ended, Fiston Mayele responded with a goal, leveling the score at 1-1.
In the second half, Mohau Nkota stole the spotlight with a stunning solo run from midfield, capping it with a brilliant individual goal to restore the Pirates’ lead.
But Pyramids were not ready to give up. In the 57th minute, Mohamed Chibi played a fantastic pass to Ramadan Sobhi, who finished clinically to make it 2-2.
Then in the 84th minute, Fiston Mayele was quick to react to a rebound from the goalkeeper and scored again, putting Pyramids ahead 3-2 — a lead they held onto to book their place in the final.
