The “Startups of the Year 2024” event, which saw more than 50,000 startups competing and over 4 million votes cast, has come to an end.
In Africa, which has gained significant momentum in the entrepreneurial sector over the past decade, fintech, health technologies, e-commerce, and edtech were the most concentrated areas.
While venture capital investments in the region now exceed billions of dollars annually, global investors are also closely monitoring this growing market.
A total of 14,700 startups from Africa participated in the event, with 23,100 votes cast. These startups represented 103 different cities.
The most successful startup city was Misc, Burkina Faso, with its representative Info du Burkina selected as the winner.
Following it were Port Harcourt and Lagos from Nigeria in second and third places, respectively. Johannesburg, South Africa, came in fourth, while Tunis, Tunisia, secured fifth place.
