The 2025 league season has concluded in many countries, but in Africa, major football events will continue to take place until the end of the year.
Most notably, the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be held from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, standing out as the continent’s premier tournament.
The AFCON draw will take place on 27 January in Rabat, the capital of Morocco. A total of 24 nations will participate in the tournament. The host countries will include Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Sudan, and Comoros.
Another major event on the horizon for the continent is the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held from 14 June to 13 July. Clubs from all over the world will compete in this prestigious tournament.
Africa will be represented by four teams: Al Ahly (Egypt), Espérance (Tunisia), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), and Wydad Casablanca (Morocco).

In addition, the FIFA World Cup qualifiers will also take place this summer, bringing high-stakes competition as nations fight for a spot in the expanded 2026 tournament.
At the end of the season, the football world will turn its attention to the Ballon d’Or, the award for the best player in the world.
Mohamed Salah, who has delivered outstanding performances this season, is considered one of the leading contenders. As such, African football fans will be eagerly anticipating the results.
Lastly, from 5 to 26 July, the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations will be held, with Morocco once again serving as the host. This tournament will provide another opportunity for fans to enjoy top-tier football on the continent.
