The 10th edition of the Africa Tech Challenge (ATC), funded by Chinese company AVIC International, has officially begun in Nairobi.
With 568 participants and 142 teams from 12 African countries, the event once again highlights efforts to equip young people across the continent with practical, market-oriented technical skills.
This year’s program includes a one-month training phase from July 28 to August 27.
It will then conclude with a two-day competition on August 28–29.
Participants will compete in three categories: mobile application development, mechanical engineering, and computer numerical control (CNC) turning.
Esther Mworia, Principal Secretary at Kenya’s State Department for Technical and Vocational Education, stated that the project has so far benefited more than 1,300 young Africans.
It was also announced that the top two participants in this year’s edition will be awarded fully funded scholarships to pursue further studies in China.
